Local artist Nicholas St John Rosse is an artist who has a passion for the figure be it on the beach ,cliffs or studio. In his own words: “The visual fusion of water, sand and rock enveloping people fascinates me, and I try to use these elements as an extension of the model’s mood.” Simply beautiful!
Lots of you will have seen the bright and beautiful floral pieces by Nicki Moule in local galleries. Each and everyone of her cheerful scenes are completely unique, you cannot help but smile when looking at them in all their colourful glory! We are so delighted to have Nicki on board for our New Leaf Exhibition beginning on 1 July 2017. This and other pieces available in store now at Caffe Gallerie!
Another local artist sharing their works at our New Leaf Exhibition this July and August (2017) is the talented Nick Collier. Nick lives and paints in West Dartmoor. The natural influences around him are clear from his works spanning abstract, expressionist pieces and landscapes.
Jill Coughman’s work focuses on the diverse, dynamic and developing city that is Plymouth. For Jill, it’s about trying to capture the beauty of the space and skyline. She has fulfilled commissions from Opera North and South West Water, worked as an artist in residence at many schools and has had paintings commissioned as book cover illustrations for a series of academic publications. We are thrilled to be introducing Jill as a part of our New Leaf Exhibition running from July 1st until August 19th 2017.
Saltash Press Gang are a group of five print makers working in Saltash, Cornwall, experimenting and supporting one another with a broad range of techniques and wrestling with unpredictable outcomes to create gorgeous graphic artwork in Jane’s workshop. We are thrilled to have them on board and hope that you all love their work when it is on display at our New Leaf Exhibition from July 1st until August 19th.
Hilary Hughes takes inspiration from nature, man’s interaction with earth and the resultant consequences in chemical processes. in her own words: “I think of myself as a landscape painter but to many my work is abstract”. The meaningful array of colours without being overly bold brings a sense of relaxation when gazing at her works.
Richard Sunderland Art is another artist featured our New Leaf Exhibition throughout July and August 2017. His pieces reflect local scenery and geography around Plymouth, Dartmoor and Cornwall as well as exploring Devonian heritage. We are beyond excited to have yet another talented local on board with such a unique vision of the space around us.
John Forster will be joining us at New Leaf Exhibition in July 2017, with his endearing abstract pieces inspired by music. In his own words: “Preferring ‘abstract’ music, it is perhaps no surprise that I should prefer ‘abstract’ art: art that explores the medium and elements themselves and that does not depend on figurative content to give it purpose. “
